This blog is inspired by the difficulties large bicycle riders face in the world of cycling. The title suggests what I have learned is the base of all cycling, the amount of power needed to be applied to move a given mass a specific distance (and elevation!) at a specific speed. This power to weight ratio is made up of the numerator, the force or power being applied by the rider, divided by the denominator, the mass of the rider and bicycle. OK, enough of the math crap,…how many cheeseburgers do I have to loose to be able to ride the Assault on Mount Mitchell in under 10 hours, without poping any spokes?,…that’s what I want to know.
